What We Believe

As Episcopalians:

  • We are followers of Jesus Christ and we believe in the triune God-Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
  • The Bible is our holy scripture. We take it seriously, but not literally.
  • Our worship is sacramental - we believe that in community prayer, the ordinary elements of water, bread and wine become the means of holy and healing grace.
  • We believe in amendment of life, the forgiveness of sins, and the life everlasting. We strive to love our neighbors as ourselves and to respect the dignity of every human being.
  • Our liturgy retains ancient structure and traditions, and we welcome men and women, married, partnered, or celibate, to be ordained as bishops, priests, and deacons.
  • Lay people exercise a vital role in the governance and ministry of our Church.
  • We celebrate our unity in Christ while honoring our differences, always putting the work of love before uniformity of opinion. All are welcome to find a spiritual home in the Episcopal Church - there are no outcasts here.
